Getting an Sandy Bridge when Ivy is released?

depends on the task or if you just don't mind the price.

The price difference is unknown, ivy will be slightly more expensive, sandy will prob just drop like 20 bucks, so about 30 buck difference i'd guess.

As I've said here before, getting the first 64-bit CPU from AMD, just to wait several years for games using 64 bit is an experience I'll never forget.

Ivy Bridge offers some nice new things to the table, such as a smaller (22nm) die which will allow the chips to run cooler and overclock further and some of the chips will also support Intel's new onboard HD 4000 graphics and they will have 3D transistors. Can't remember what the 3D transistors are going to do right now, but it's all going to be good stuff.

To be honest mate, I'd just wait for Ivy Bridge if you're thinking about building a new system now. It's always good to have the latest and greatest. Ivy Bridge arrives on April 29th, that's only 9 days away. Once April 29th and Ivy Bridge comes, I imagine the Sandy Bridge chips will go down in price a little bit.

And like i said before, that introduced a new technology that had to be designed to use, while ivy is straight up faster.
