Hi guys,
I am looking at buying the following system:

- AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor Retail (939)
- ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 nForce4 Motherboard
- 1024MB (2x512MB) Value Select PC-3200 DDR Ram Corsair
- Westerd Digital 250GB SataII 7200rpm HDD
- ASUS EN7800GT-2DHTV-256 DDR3 PCI-Express DVI TVO
- Samsung 940BB 19" Inch TFT Thin Bezel/Height Adj LCD Black 8ms with DVI
- Pioneer DVR-110DBK 16X DVD-/+R/RW Dual Layer
- CoolerMaster Centurion 532 Aluminium Bezel Case Black with 430W
- Creative Soundblaster Audigy Value Sound Card 7.1

How would you guys rate this, and is there anything you would add/remove/change? I can spend a little bit more money if need be, but not too much.

Thanks very much guys, and I look forward to your comments.

Cheers
Scott

that's really good but.. Onboard audio isn't that bad. I'd say go for a cheaper sound card atleats and get the 3700

If you can try and squeeze an X2 in there, and make sure you get another PSU because the ones that come with cases are generaly crappy.

Otherwise looks good.

The X2 is dual core right? Is it really necessary at the moment? I will mainly be using the computer for games (BF2 especially), occasional burning of cd/dvd's. Is it worth the extra money?

Yah I have chosen a new PSU, Powersupply Antec ATX TruePower TrueControl 550W with Fan Controler. I have been told that is a good one.

I am probably just going to go with the onboard audio as well and ditch the soundcard.

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.

no i wuld keep the soundcard. he can easily overclock to 3700 speeds. eactly how much more money do u want to spend?

I cannot spend that much more. What did you have in mind?

Just an update from me. This is what it looks like after I have received feedback from various people.

One last thing I am still deciding on is whether or not to go that little bit further and get a dual core processor (3800+ X2). Is it worth the money, or not at this stage.

that looks good but personally i dont think u shuld get the 3700. the 3500 is fine and u can overclock into 3700 speeds. but if thats wat u want. also u might wanna upgrade to some high quality ram like corsair xms.

I disagree.

Onboard has newer technologies than some of the older cheaper sound cards, so the onboard may actually be better. And the 3700+ is a waste of money, its not much more power but its alot more money. Go with the 3500+.

Thanks guys. I'm still tossing up between the 3700 and 3500, but thanks for your opinions. What are the advantages of the XMS corsair ram?

The 3700+ is only $20 more than the 3500+...That's not a "lot" more.
The Corsair XMS isn't the best but it's pretty good especially since the price dropped to about $100 for 1GB of it.

True, but you have to keep in mind that the 3500+ and 3700+ have the same clock speeds, but the 3700+ is a SanDiego core. The Venice is better for overclocking.

Although it is only $20 dollars more. I am not sure whether or not I should go for the 3500+ sporting the new Venice Core or the 3700+ with the larger cache? Any opinions on the differences here?

The San Diego core and the Venice core are pretty much the same thing, just renamed.

The cache won't really matter so, I guess it really wouldn't matter. Just go with the 3500+ because it's cheaper.

Hey guys,
