Im looking for a really super cheap webhost to put a forum together using mybb for my work. Came across this site but 4.99 a month sounds almost to good to be true, any experience with them?

I did read some reviews and from what i can tell their tech support is lacking, but for something like a super easy forum for the people at my work, I cant think I would need their assistance all that much.

Yes that maybe true, go for them if you feel happy with them or i could help you have another look for other cheap hosters if you like?

they have hosting packages starting at around seven or eight dollars a month. it is advertised as less, but that price only applies if you pay several months at a time. what you get for the money is unbelievable. should your website ever grow and you require more space or bandwidth, you just pay the difference for that particular month up to the next step and they upgrade you right away. I pay $14.95 monthly and I have about 9 websites being hosted from my account right now. never had a single problem. uptime is about as good as you can find in the industry. the thing that amazes me is hostgator is a giant as far as webhosts go, but the level of service they give is like you are dealing with a private small business. i really can't say enough good things about them...

I found forum software from Nabble that I liked, I think I might just use that rather than mess with myBB. Nabble is pretty easy and straightforward to setup.

I own a domain from bluehost.com, $6.95 per month - free domain, unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth. They did charge us all at once though, and since I have it for 3 years, we got billed $250.

Theres also phpBB and simple machines.
I havent done a forum in a while but about a year ago, i had one for my clan and those were both good free pieces of forum software.

Also, if you want to try out a forum/cms without having to install and everything, theres a lot of them on http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.php
That site gives you both an admin and a user password so you can login and also check out the backend and see if you like it.

I just found a post 2 host forum run buy a guy in Australia, pretty close to where I live. He has a number of plans and I got the one that costs 25 posts per month.
So basically I post on the forum 25 times a month, in the computer hardware section, which is the most interesting, and I get 5Gb web space and 20Gb bandwidth for free.
Just for a posting a little bit in the forum.
You can also get a free plan that does require you to post at all. But that has a little less space and bandwidth.
