Hi,
I am using windows vista 64bit with a core duo 3.0ghz and 6gb of ram.
I have a SBG900 Motorola cable modem which can also go wireless.
Just recently (after restarting my computer for some windows updates) my PC Activity LED on the modem stopped working and I lost my connectivity to the internet.
The computer stopped recognizing my onboard LAN. I checked under BIOS and the network card just didn't show up any longer. It's like it has been removed physically.
When plugging the modem into my laptop over ethernet, however, it still doesn't work, so the ethernet port on the modem seems to be broken, too. It still sends out a wireless signal and I can connect wireless with my laptop.
But isn't it a weird coincidence that suddenly both ethernet ports died? The one on the computer and the one on the modem.
Can anyone suggest anything apart from buying a new modem and a new network card? Thank you very much in advance.
