Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Issues

I recently built a new computer which i got quite a bit of helpful advice from here on its components. running windows xp media edition 32bit OS
http://www.computerforum.com/108643-my-first-rig-opinions.html

Anyway I keep running into this error frequently after loading windows (I can load in Safe mod without these problems atm).. it just gives a blue screen and then the computer shuts down.
The useful bits of it:

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Stop: 0x000000D1 (0X8ADACA48, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0XBACA10F3)

Aegisp.sys -address BACA10F3 Base at BACA0000, Date Stamp 42a9a3eo

I think it is a driver error and not a hardware error since I RMAed my mobo & Ram chips thinking they were cause of this problem but it still happens. any ideas on this? very frustrating at this point and I might just do a complete reformat if all else fails. although I have learned a lot trying to fix this problem.. lol
Let me know if you need more info from event log etc

"Aegisp.sys -address BACA10F3 Base at BACA0000, Date Stamp 42a9a3eo" identifies the driver for a sound card, video card, or other driver type installed by Windows on the system. Either the installer is seeing bad installs or the incorrect driver version is being used like seeing Vista drivers go onto an XP system.

The information on that particular driver is that it's used by Windows itself to control one of the hardwares. One site with that information and a free online system scanner is seen at http://www.runscanner.net/process.aspx?p=aegisp.sys

The "Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" message is commonly seen when a sound driver goes on wrong or is the wrong version for the OS or model. Other information on a virus seen with the same name is found at http://www.file.net/process/aegisp.sys.html

Returning the board was unnecessary since this is a software or possibly virus problem not hardware related. Sweeping the hard drive(s) installed and reviewing the support site's updates for release notes seen on what is required by each update seen there would be the best move.

oh , i had the same issure a while back. but for me it was a sorta driver issue, I was using MAGICDISK to mount, now i use alcahol 120%...but i uninstalled magicdisk, and everything was ok.

Aegisp.sys is a part of your wireless drivers. Either look for an updated version or roll back to a previous one.

AegisP.sys file information

The process IEEE 802.1X Protocol Driver belongs to the software AEGIS Client or AEGIS Protocol (IEEE 802.1x) v by Meetinghouse Data Communications (www.mtghouse.com).
Description: AegisP.sys is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 17801 bytes (37% of all occurrence), blah blah blah"

seen at the link points to Meetinghouse now acquired by Cisco Systems for networking services and routers whether hard wired or wireless. http://www.cisco.com/

I had this exact same problem. i had a bad driver for my sound card from microsoft, and every time a sound played through my system, it would bluescreen. so what I did was un-install the new "updated" drivers, and re-install the old drivers. in your case, I would boot into safe mode, and re-install the motherboard drivers.

Safe mode is generally used when you can't remove something while booted up normally. That's a diagnostic mode where only the bare essentials needed to load the desktop with limitations is used for removing things like programs, drivers, bugs since they are not loading up there. For installing drivers and programs you would otherwise boot into Windows normally.

The page seen at the link shows the longer drawn out method for editing the registry as well as manually removing the offending file. One freeware can save you all that called RegSeeker. This will remove any specific registry value or file in the system32 folder once you know the specific regisry value and/or name of file to remove. http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
