Well mines help up pretty well. And I can't really speak for the rest of them, so your probably right. Although I agree, their support sucks.
 
Once you get rid of all the bloatware they are an affordable option. Anything technological in New Zealand is pretty expensive, which is why I went the Dell way for a laptop. The 1525 is pretty weighty to lug around campus, especially if I'm carrying my textbooks but nothing is ever perfect. Dell has been flooding the local tv networks here with adverts for the 15R, no doubt drumming up more business.
 
If you are going to buy "Dell", make sure it is a "Comic Book". Dell Computers are garbage. You could try modding the parts involved with a custom made patch of some sort.
