I am looking for a good free defragment software for my 2 year old system. I have heard that "Diskeeper" is a good one. Any help???

Thanks,

Tom

As a side note, How can I list what programs start when I start my computer?

Thanks to all of you for your input!! I have tried the programs that you have listed with good results. My computer seems to be running a lot better now. :D

Thank you,

Tom

there is no single best defragging program out there. you just have to try a bunch and choose your own.

window's defragger just does a simple defrag. it doesn't put all files in one continuous order as what a 3rd party defragger would do. ordering files continuously minimizes further fragmentation assuming you don't go on a deleting spree.

if you want to know my fav is ultimate defrag. for both power users and noobs. not free

Diskeeper is the best defragmenter due to their Invisitasking technology that handles fragmentation as it occurs with zero overhead. In addition, I like the I-FAAST which my frequently used files on the fastest area of the disk.
