Computer Vs. Console

I would say PC over console, because PC's performance seriously outclasses any console. Altho now that the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are being released, they are smoking all but the most serious rigs, and they cost less then 25% of what it would cost you to build up a desktop that strong. Actually I'm not sure if you could realisticly build up a PC to hang with the PS3. You could probably hang with the Xbox 360, but it wouldn't be cheap

Besides, these consoles are now coming with full networking capability and hard drives. They are pretty much PC's in a box. All you need to do is wait for a hack to let you install linux on it and you have a $400 desktop that will smoke everything under the sun.

You said in the other thread they won't run next to an x86 designed programs. That means no games or apps...so what is the point of all that power if all you can do is jack around with the OS?

oo vortmax got pwned...

now back on track
if a ps3/360 is soo good and if a pc that were to match would be more expensive then y is the ps3/360 soo cheap?

Not pwned, I was just somewhat confused that in the other thread he said x86 apps wouldn't work on a PS3 or 360, but in here that was never mentioned and it sounds as if simply installing Linux on it makes it a fully functional computer.

w8 i dont get wat you mean by, they make up losses on software sales? like wat software?
they lose money on all the hardware they sell, they make those losses up on the software they produce. thats why the hardware is so cheap

Makes sense, what good is all that hardware if you don't have any software. You pretty much HAVE to buy the software, or you as the consumer lose money. It's not like a computer where there are free alternatives for almost everything.

the xbox360 can interact with the pc anyways kind of like making the pc a server for the xbox360. if you own media center you may remember downloading a that update from MS.

I still stand by what I said. Currently it won't work. That doesn't mean in a year someone won't hack together a version of linux that will run on it. The exact same thing happened on the PS2.

You just won't be able to run windows and install all you fancy pants games

let me know when a PC gets Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Halo 2, Resident Evil, Gears of War, Perfect Dark, etc. etc....you get the point. The PC might be able to be built more powerful, but I think consoles get the better line up of games. Unless your hardcore FPS or RTS...then get a PC.

Console games usually have a period of "IT WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE FOR [insert consoler here]" Then a few months later it gets ported over to the PC. The original Halo was this way "Only for XBOX" and now you can get it for PC lol. ALL games aren't this way, but a fair share are.

PC, Everyone seems to be forgetting about the quality of most telivision's. To get the quality you'd likely get from a computer monitor, you'd have to spend a lot more money. Besides, I like to be able to check my e-mail, listen to music, and play games within several clicks. What can I say, I'm lazy. Besides, the next Half Life will be PC first.

X-Box 360 can play music and display photos.
i must agree though that the quality of most TVs is where consoles fall behind.

This seems kind of late but anyways....after analyzing the xbox 360 COD2 demo at best buy about 10 times, I have concluded that my x850xt OWNZ it. Seems like im going back on my word but back than i was a xbox 360 fanboy. Now im all for PC (not for the price..but for the quality) im still getting 360 though because of xbox live and eventually games will be using the xbox 360 full capabilities.

Keyword is "eventually" so you might as well wait untill they use all the capibilities and by that time the xbox will be $120

Yes, even more so for the xbox, sooo many xobox ghaems are on thePc...

Also who ever says the screen is bigger and i like the gamepad is dumb, most new video card have a output to hookup with a TV and you can buy plently of gamepad's, and if you like a certain consoles ebtetr then that is what wire strippers, eletrical tape, and a soldering iron is for.(Worked with SNES controller PS contoller and N64 controller)
