Computer slow after virus attack

I just recently was attacked by multiple viruses, but I think I have removed most, if not all, of them.

What I need help with now is restoring my compuer to the speed it was at before the attack.

Please Help, It is really Slow

Hello, please download and post a log with HiJackThis.

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Download and Run ComboFix
If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

In your reply:
  • Post the combo fix log
  • Post a Fresh Hijackthis log

To OP: You seem to have AVG and Norton running. Two AV's is not good. I suggest you dump Norton. If you already un-installed it then, we have some stuff to do to get rid of it.
 
my father says I can not uninstal norton until I find the product code but he can not remember the acount password or username
 
Are you willing to get rid of Norton or AVG?

Norton is a very good scanner but takes a lot of resources (RAM). AVG on the other side, isn't as good as Norton but isn't taking as much resources. It all depends whether you choose security over performance. If you are a safe internet surfer and fdon't go on porn/illegal website, AVG should be ok. I also understand if you are like me, obsessed with security :D.

So please let us know whether you want to keep AVG or Norton.
 
I have not personally tested Antivira, so I don't know how good it is.

Let's remove Norton:

Remove Norton

Note : You should first attempt to remove your Norton product using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel (Programs and Features, in Windows Vista). This is the best method. After uninstalling using Windows Add/Remove Programs, run the Norton Removal Tool to ensure successful removal of all Norton references.

  • Please go to this -page- and select the product you have
    • 1 Download the Norton Removal Tool.
      Save the file to the Windows desktop.
      2 On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal Tool icon.
      3 Follow the on-screen instructions.
      Your computer may be restarted more than once, and you may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.

After you've removed Norton, please post a DSS log:

Download and Run DSS

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<- this one will be minimized.
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your reply.
