Computer is slow...need some input

windows is updated...still no luck:(

I know I'm probably starting to run out of options, but what would you guys suggest next?
 
Try updating Internet Explorer to version 7 and then disabling the McAfee firewall and see if you can access it.
 
ok, tried to update to IE 7 and It started and said that it couldnt verify the integrity of Update.inf. Make sure the cryptographic service is running.

I go to admin tools and find cryptographic service and tell it to start, well it says Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Whats next? We appreciate you guys taking the time to help my bro and I through all of this!
 
ok, I finally got it running pretty good. Its not too slow anymore although its still not as fast as it was originally. Just a funny thing now, that started when he got this virus or w/e it was. When you minimize the window it doesn't show up in the taskbar. Also...he recently got a 320 gig external hard drive and he was going to move a lot of his important stuff from school on there. Well, I cant drag and drop stuff and i cant copy/cut and paste. If we can get those fixed well be set. I know I made sure that drag and drop was enabled from the start menu but it didnt change anything. Anyone have any ideas?
 
still having the problem...

What we decided to do is take it to one of my buddies that work on computers on the side. The sound doesnt work either, and hasnt for a week or more. Whenever a windows sound is supposed to play it beeps instead and sounds like it is coming from the inside of the computer but idk for sure. Do you think these 3 things could be related? Could there still be some harmful programs on here?
