computer in bedroom dangerous?

Hi,
I was just told by someone that if a computer is in a bedroom close to where one sleeps it is dangerous and needs to be switched off when not in use or at night. Is this true? Is there some form of radiation from a pc?

no it is not dangerous. and i think the computer does give off radiation but its very tiny and the case blocks it or sumthing like that. so it wont cause any harm. but some dont like it on close to thier beds b/c the fans can be loud.

Haha I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen because my computer is right by me when I sleep. The only bad thing about sleeping next to your computer is that you might lose some sleep when it's turned on (had to watch a TV show on how teenagers don't get any sleep and this was one of the reasons:rolleyes: )

You shouldn't worry about radiation since you're exposed to it more than you think. You're TV probably gives off more radiation than your computer but I'm just guessing about that....

No, a computer in your bedroom is definately not dangerous if you leave it on all the time. I have 4 in my room now (down from 6) and they run 24x7.

I have 2 desktops running 24/7. I couldn't imagine having 4. LOL!

The only way that having a computer on all the time could be dangerous is because of a small fire hazard. But that's no more a fire hazard than leaving on a lamp, TV or any other electronic equipment. And the radiation given off by a computer is not any more than any other standard piece of electronic equipment, either...

Your room must get really hot with 4 computer, with just 1 in my tiny little room, its HOT! I have to turn it off at night.

so your comp is your heater:P i really dont believe that a computer can heat up your entire room. it has to be another reason. it helps to have your door open to let the hot air out and the cold air in. also if your room is hot then your comp temps will get high and thats not good.

or it may be my T.v and all that crap in my room  but really my room looks like one of those rich peoples closets its so small it sucks!

Yeah, my room would definitely get warmer from my computer. That was when I was running my Prescott, and it would heat up all the time.

Nothing to worry about at all. Many people work between several pc, come home and sit infront of the personal pc and none of them have starting glowing the the dark yet or their heads look like this.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have one in my bedroom running most of the day. Nothing happens, although it does get hot, there is a noticable change in temperature when you step out of the room. :D

This is my 3000th post w00t!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

more then likely its the monitor joker
Right. It's the MONITOR that gives off radiation, especially from the sides and rear, when running. The monitor gives off negligable radiation from the screen area. You should always stay at least 2feet/60cm away from the sides or rear of a running monitor if you're there any appreciable length of time.

as his head turns into a fish and grows three extra eyes.
:P :)

I have a comp in my room. Occasionely i start to glow but a good shower usually takes away the glowing effect:P

With my computer on it heats my room pretty good! I come home and its 5C hotter in my room, when the door is shut, then the rest of my house

well, i was saying thats what produces the heat, i noticed my ambiant room tempature went from like 69F to like 89F when i get my new monitor and ran it at 1600x1200 res, so i make a heat dissipation thingy on it, lol
