i am going to sell a p4 478 2.4ghz stock intel heatsink/ fan combo, and wanted to clean it up before i sell it.

1.Does anyone have a way to take of dried thermal grease?

2.The fins are curved in a spiral, and i can't get the dust out of there, any ideas?

3.kind of related, what should i charge for it? it is fully functional, used, 3-pin connector.

Thanks for any help

Credit card or straight-edged razor blade.

If you can remove the actual fan from the HS unit, you can run the actual HS under water. If not, then use compressed air to blow away all the crud.

For a comparison, I just sold a Socket 478 Intel MoBo and 2.8Gh P4 as a bundle for $45 on Ebay. For just the P4, I would think around $15-$18 plus shipping. If it's HT, then maybe $18-$22 plus shipping.

thanks imsati, i would sell tthe p4, but my cousin accidentally bent 4 of the pins. is it possible to safely unbend them?

That's hit or miss. If you're very gentle with them, then yes it's possible. Take your time and don't rush - make sure they're all bent back perfectly.

ok, beep-beep-beep-beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep-it's dead, i just won't try, i also have a celeron 478 2.5ghz to sell, but thanks.
