CD vs DVD

Anyone will tell me which one is much better in use either CD and DVD.
How much data is stored in Both?

CD : about 700 MB
DVD : ~4,7 GB OR about 9 GB Dual Layer

The best choice is currently a DVD, but soon BDs and HD VMDs will be much more cheaper

DVD's are the best choice for the price, they don't cost much more then CD's and have 4.5GB of storage compared to 700MB (0.7GB).

The DVD storage capacity is going to be even more with Hi-def

In most situations, a dvd works better
But there are case where you need a CD.

IE, installing linux on an old computer withonly a cd reader. Or burning music to listen too on a CD

Windows Vista Backup only works with DVD's that are NOT rewritable. I have to use cd's for backups, and music.

Who uses Vista Backup? Just copy and paste your stuff to a dvd

Well vista backup does everything without me having to look and paste things.

A dvd writes much faster then a CD. So, if you have a lot of DVD in spare, I would go for a DVD.

The complete system backup utility in Ultimate is quite handy though

25 gb per layer is standard. there are (will be?) layers that have 30+ gigs each....
