Boy, Do I Hate An Initial Defragging

That's strange, I've never had that problem, what do you use now? The default defrag program that came with Windows?

I use the one that shows a change after it's done. :D

I switched to Auslogics.

I really liked Perfectdisk but the version I have doesn't work with 64bit Vista.

if you use defraggler and it says its still fragmented when its done go to the filelist and check the boxes one by one till you find the ones that wont unfragment that's as defragged as youll get

That sounds like a hassle.

I just switched to Auslogics, and when I ran it, it worked, without clicking any other boxes. Got me down to 4% fragmentation. I can live with that.

I can't live with 24%, which is what Defraggler stated before and after it was finished running.

I've never run a manual defrag in ages; I use Diskeeper 2010 currently (recently upped from 2009) and it's fully automatic and works in the background in real-time. It's best feature is something called Intelliwrite that prevents fragmentation in real-time while files are being written to the drive. AFAIK, no other defragger has this feature.
