BioShock

I just finished the demo, and it is really sweet! I just wish I had the time to justify spending the $60 on it...

Just finished the demo myself and all I can say is wow! I just want to play more! The plasmids/weapons combo is fantastic and certainly beats the more traditional hold-down-the-trigger-til-he's-dead tactic in lesser first person shooters. An intense atmosphere is ever-present which really adds to the scripted seens. They literally take your breath away and make you say "holy crap!" out loud as if you have just seen the coolest thing ever. Would definately recommend it to anyone.

i think the graphics stink. thats what im getting from the demo.

If you have a decent pc then seriously, crank up the settings to high, the game looks fantastic when played on the right setup. Fire and water effects are particularly amazing, superior even to those found in Half-life 2 in my opinion.

I don't have to worry about PC requirements because I am picking it up on the Xbox 360. :P

One of my favorite benefits to Console gaming vs. PC gaming.

But.......then again, the game is more expensive.

the graphics stink?

This just sums up to me the point i made some time ago about gameplay dying. The graphics are still fantastic, perhaps not a new standard in graphics but they are still wonderful. What this game does have so far is excellent gameplay and one of the best atmospheres i have seen in a game for a long time.

Honestly, just because the graphics aint quite crysis levels is that enough for you to disuade from playing a game? At least this one will be enthralling from the look of it rather than repetative rubbish!

my main beef with having it on a console is that the FPS needs a keyboard and mouse if you ask me, it needs that to feel right and to work right, a gamepad just doesnt work for an FPS for me

Well, playing the Demo this morning has definitely convinced me to get this game.

Shocking people with 1000 volts and then whacking them over the head with a wrench is quite entertaining. OR Incinerating them with fire then shooting them with a pistol is good too. Whichever you prefer.

Overall, the demo was lots of fun, and kinda creepy...It's like FEAR mixed with Prey, but with a twist.

The little girl pretty scary, especially when playing in the dark. Then Big Daddy ....It's a pretty messed up game.

PC DEMO Review

I've got the demo the graphics are far better than any game at the moment the only game with better graphics is Crysis. The atmosphere story and sound is far better than any film I've ever seen the graphics are good enough to compete with films. Some Xbox owners are giving this game a low review as its not got as many guns or modern or futureistic guns as gears of War just like they complain about flight simulator 2007 not having AK47. It's an action horror film with you in it and it aint a war game for the young ones. The demo is scripted hardly any Ai and virtually no free roaming as you move A - B the rooms are locked behind you. I did read this is to drive the plot and teach you and your ment to get to free roaming areas with dynamic enemy Ai. I hope we do get to go anywhere we want to later on but I'm not sure if the story will be as good if we are not led through the plot. The demo ends finishing a plot and then your traped by a nutter in a room and i think thats where it may change into a fully dynamic city.

I ran it smooth on my nvidia 6800GT card oced to 435Mhz only the water animation seemed a little jerky. The sound is the best I've ever heard in a game even beter than in any film. You can get the demo at gamers hell at 1.8GB 3-4 hrs download and pick up the PC full game for £25 at Game if you preorder it.

My specs only just run it smooth on high settings but with no global lighting at 1280 x 1024 rez I got multithreaded enabled in the driver settings not sure if this game is dual core or not but this computer out performs the single core computer that has more Mhz same hardware.

2x Opteron 2Ghz processors
2GB 400Mhz Ram dual channel
Nvidia 6800GT water cooled 435Mhz 1000Mhz memory
Creative Audigy 2 ZS

Yeah, I really don't like how there is no online play, but if the game is getting that good of ratings I can't be very picky about it. I'm going to give it a try for the xbox 360. I'm not big into computer gaming. Too hard... haha

tool

I still can't get over the fact that this game is sheer perfection. The storyline will leave you breathless at some points, you won't believe what you're hearing, seeing and doing.

i play it on max. the water is not that "amazing" and the fire isnt either. water and fire are the hardest things in games to make look realistic.

The water is the best seen so far in games I expected better water but to get it better you would need a physics card or another 2 processor cores just to run the water physics, they tried to emulate water using the usual graphics tools but the way the makers talked in the making of the game I was expecting the game to ship with a server rack just for the water calculations.

It's $50 for the PC version, $60 for the xbox360 version.

I know this, and I'm probably going to get it for the 360 if I get it because it'll run better on that...

As for the game, I love also when you shock people in water and shocks everybody else! And holy crap was that girl creepy, repeatedly stabbing the guy in the head and then her robot going nuts on the dude. Then the lady before that coddling and talking to the revolver in the cradle like it was her baby..., :shudder:

Yeah, very creepy. The idea of killing them and taking their eden doesn't sound half bad... I get the feeling that if you decide to help them, their doing nothing but taking advantage of you.

Meh, I'll play through twice and try both. :D

I agree with people saying that it is a little creepy, but I don't think it is nearly as scary as FEAR. I personally found the splicers quite comical. Like the couple arguing in the dining room or the guy in the toilet cubicle who runs at you screaming "I can stop anytime I want". I also laughed out loud when the dude got owned by a big daddy. Shooting, clubbing, shocking and burning them is also sadistically satisfying :D

Different strokes for different folks. :D

As I've said before I didn't find FEAR scary at all, It was alittle cheesy and lackluster to me. Bleh.

I agree though Bioshock can be amusing at times, That one "Charlie" lady in the Demo had me Loling.. But other than that I agree fullheartedly with Skidude, uneasy is the perfect description.

full copy has just arrived and installing now, although im not sure if i can activate it yet as i thought the servers for the uk were not going online till tomorrow....will soon find out i suppose :)

holy CRAP , there was some parts just watching it , i was kinda freaked out , iono why , but great and sheer perfection, totally getn this game

whos big daddy ???

whats happened to the city ??

and whos that little girl ????

it looks good when you force everything to the max in he nvidia control panel 3d option.
