Best Free Always On Remote Access?

I am looking for suggestions on the best remote control/access software I can install to a family member's PC to be able to remote in without them having to initiate the connection. My grandparents are old enough that even opening an application and providing a code is too difficult, so I'm looking for something I have full control over the session without their intervention.

Google remote desktop is the only thing I can really think of, signed in with a dedicated Google account maybe.

Windows RDP would work too, but it's a bit of a pain to setup/work the way you want it to iirc.

+1 on Google Remote Desktop tho. Smoothest remote access experience I've used so far.
