haha i totally agree... i bought a 9600xt before (that is, before i had my 9800pro which i bought so cheap at the time) and it didn't work... lol
never bought anything refurbed since

i LOVED as5, it gave me a good o/c. lol
but soon i hope to get to 2.7-2.8ghz on this new stuff with water cooling! :)
my load temps are sky high, like 55C its ridiculous... i don't ever let it get into a full load anymore if i can help it...
that'll change with water cooling though :)
plus... this heatsink is crap... lol

anyone know if this new liquid stuff is permanent?
it says it matures in 48hrs and turns solid... but it also says it stays liquid at ambient temperatures?
any idea people?
 
Not sure. The only independent review i've seen shows cooling performance very similar to AS5 (It won by 1C, IIRC). I'd probably stick with AS5, depending on the price - it's got to be easier to remove.

Do you have to replace the AC5 thing onto your CPU every year or something, or is it permenant?
