officially, arctic silver 5's reign is over.
get a copper heatsink, cuz this stuff ain't compatible with anything aluminum. idle temps will lower a ton, and so will load temps. be careful if you decide to get this stuff! it is a LIQUID and will LEAK all over your computer, and it conducts electricity! well... they warn you on the site, read up :)

I LIKE IT! On the site there pictures to apply it, thoesn't look all that bad about the liquid thing. I notice they say it's like liquid mercury, that's impressive. Doesn't say what kind of metals was used in that site you linked though, I'd like to know. Do you know when this came out?

i duno when it came out... but its like 9-10 times more thermally conductive as silver 5 (supposedly)
it's not liquid mercury, that i can tell you. mercury doesn't conduct heat very well unfortunately...
i duno what kind of metal it is, but its a special alloy.
looking at the pictures it reminds me so much of the T1000 from terminator 2. lol

-Does Arctic Silver 5 ever dry up?

You may reconsider having a credit if not debit card in a few years. If you go to good online vendors with a reputation you rarely have problems. As far as Artic Silver and other thermal compounds once opened you do have to reseal them to keep the compound from drying out. If resealed good after use a tube or other airtight container should last for a long time. After a year or two plan on tossing that though. Eventually they will harden up.

i dont believe its gallium... gallium needs higher than room temps to melt...
anyways, the stuff is an alloy i believe... meaning its mixed with other metals.
its probably partly gallium tho
i believe this is the official website... you may have to click a flag in the upper righthand corner of the site, to change the language...

Maybe I'll persuade my parents so register to eBay, is it safe enough, right now I'm (we're) only in amazon.com and amazon.co.uk

What about newegg? There safe.

I have a debit card and i only use it in safe places, its really useful to have one.

No, newegg is a retail online store ;) However, back on topic, it looks quite neat. It cannot have anything to do with mercury because its deadly poisonous!

JAN :D

wrong.
it'll say "refurbished" if its been used.
and no, they don't buy stuff back, or display other peoples hardware.
newegg is just a REALLY reliable and about the cheapest source for any hardware on the market.
sometimes tigerdirect has better deals, or better selection... but newegg is still the best.

The refurbished products are sent from newegg's warehouses, i dont think there sent via a third party user.

I know, and personally i would never buy anything refurb from there.

Take a look at their disclaimer:
Newegg.com does not test any product, including refurbished items. Refurbished components are therefore only tested by the original manufacturer. Due to the varying quality of manufacturer testing, YOU ARE TAKING A RISK BUYING REFURBISHED PRODUCTS. Refurbished items are OPEN BOX products that contain components that have previously been owned by other clients and returned to Newegg.com. These products are sold considerably under cost.
