Hey guys i tryed to install fifa 2007 ( the game ) the game but it's saying that i need atleast DirectX 9.0c or higher in order to install the game so i checked my system to see what i'm running on and i saw i'm runnin Direct 9.0c i dont know why fifa 2007 doesnt want to install....Do i have to install DirectX 10 ? and if i do what happens with DirectX 9 and can i do back up in case something doesnt work out as planned and i can restore it back to normal i want somebody who understand of that stuff to answer me not common sense.....Thank you.

Many games and apps see the requirement for a certain version of direct x and often have the dx install option seen while installing the game or app. When checked off the installer then has a record of that being installed.

DX10 is not a separate item you can download for XP and any older version of Windows. The dxsetup.exe tool will however download and repair any problems being seen with DX9c. You can also download the full redistributable version and unpack that into a folder for seeing a full install at any time.

DX9 will install onto Vista as well as other versions since that is a separate set of 3D rendering drivers. That is kind of the opposite being seen there since 10 requires Vista since it comes built into the new version.

Are you running XP with SP2 or simply SP1 there? If the game is SP2 and Vista ready as well and you only have SP1 or none the installer itself is not recognising XP without the second service pack on.

It works for me, DX9c. It's an awesome game :).

The most likely answer is that somehow the DX drivers were made inactive or some were knocked out where you simply need to see those repaired. Or if not running SP2 the installer is running into a brick wall. Also take a look at whatelse you may have running like a firewall, antivirus program, or some other background app interfering. Antivirus programs are well known for hampering things.

Ok i'm running windows xp with service pack 2 ....and i'm using right now directX 9.0c....in case anybody need it. I mean i dont want to do something that i dont know and mess up my computer ....

That's another link for the redistributable 9.0c seen there where you save the zip file and extract the files into a folder. Once you click on the dxsetup.exe you simply agree to the license and it goes on in a split second. That's all there is to it.

I have the same problem with NFS Most wanted. I have already installed DirectX 9c.
The game is installing well but when i click to play its hangs and says that You need Directx9c.
Any Solutions?

Try what 0mega suggested. Rerun the DX installer, it will look at what you have installed and install any necessary updates. The game should work after that.

Even with Vista seeing DX10 built into it you run the dxsetup to see any missing there get replaced. With 9c you can download the redistributable version and run it off of the drive if needed.

Running any antivirus or firewall programs? Sometimes you have to disable those temporarily to see a game run or even install.
