what will u be using the computer for? and why not buy from newegg or zipzoomfly? u could save alot of money

lots of DVD Burning, recording TV to disc, big software programs, lots of music files, and videos etc.....

I was going to buy
The ABS Ultimate V1 40 Pentium 4 3.4GHZ, 1G, 250GB - 1,249.99
or
The ABS Ultimate V1 42 Pentium 4 3.4GHz, 1G, 250GB - 1,189.89

but newegg.com don't make them anymore, so now i'm going buy a built-to-order pc.

I had a bad experience with Tiger Direct and Systemax. I ordered a customized systemax pursuit spitfire laptop over the phone with one of the reps and got my order number and all that good stuff... about a week later I still had not recieved shipping notification nor any explination of the delay, so I called tiger. After waiting on hold for about 30 min. I got to talk to a rep who told me that the laptop had gone permanently out of stock and there was nothing they could do. Not once did I recieve an email or a phone call telling me this... and the credit card hold wasn't taken off until I called the bank! bad business imo...

Sorry, had to vent :D... it probably won't happen to you, but just be sure they are stocking everything they need to build your PC if you order from them

since then I have found Newegg and I love them

I hate when that happen! I had a similar problem on a unrelated topic, with buy.com over flash memory

...and I will make sure, they will have what I want.

I love Newegg.com too!

well intel is the way for what ur going to be doing
Well either Intel or AMD will suffice for the task at hand. Nothing particular about the tasks that scream AMD or Intel :)

Wattage doesnt matter.
PSU 101. :)

thank you! I asked because others had said that you would need more than 400watts to run a 256mb graphics card and big hard drives

Quotes from newegg.com

"The 350 watt PSU was not even close to enough for me, but I ripped that out right away and put in a 600W instead and am very happy with it."

"I would not recommend using the supplied power supply. It's a 420watts is not the number you should be interested in. Only 18A on the 12v rail is not enough for new systems anymore. Buy yourself a named brand power supply and protect your hardware."

"It should at least have a 400-450 watt power supply"
