64GB SSD and 320GB HDD should be fine right?

So for my new build I want an SSD for booting, but figured 30GB just wouldn't be enough so I was looking at this one: https://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Solid_State_Drive_2,5_inch_SATA/Crucial/CT064M4SSD2/551360/?

basically a Crucial M4 64GB SSD, just for booting. I have a 320GB HDD that I'm going to use for a while that is in my current build, I'll replace that with and IDE HDD as the salvage build will be used as a media centre then here at home, or a file server.

just wondering if its a good choice to go for this one for booting and maybe some main programs like cod4, C#, C++ and chrome.

Yep. The M4 is a great SSD and would be good to install Windows on as well as your main programs. You may want to install games to a separate hard drive though as they take up lots of room, especially if you're only going to have 64GB to play with. There's not much difference in gaming on an SSD vs on an HDD, certainly no FPS gain/loss.

Well for me on Cod4 its basically the loading of the maps that makes the difference. Then I can join the game maybe 2 seconds quicker to choose scope if I want it. But thanks for the quick reply man when the build is finished, I'll pic it for you all should also get a nice watercooling set from a friend with CPU+GPU block and 240MM Rad and a nice Res and pump.

If you have room left on the SSD once you've installed Windows and all your other software, then yeah install COD into the SSD too, but if you're a bit short on room afterwards then install it on your 320GB hard drive.

yeah planning to do that anyway, should have enough room on the SSD though, otherwise then I'll save up some more, get my second GPU and second SSD for Raid.

Don't RAID SSDs! Firstly putting two SSDs in RAID-0 doesn't really increase the speed, and it certainly doesn't double it. Secondly, if you put two SSDs in RAID I believe you lose support for TRIM. TRIM is a feature that allows your SSD to run like new all the time (but it will only be enabled if you have Windows 7 and SATA AHCI enabled in the BIOS) which could be a problem. Seriously, one SSD is fast enough, don't waste your money and put two in RAID. By using RAID-0 as well you'll also reduce the lifespan of each drive, not really an issue for SSDs, but you may wear the drives down meaning they become slower.

I'd only bother if you are playing on a large monitor. If you have something like a 4:3 17" monitor and all your doing is playing COD 4, a second GPU is unnecessary, just stick with single card.

on the GPU side, I'm going to play cod4 yeah but I want to get a full steady 250fps which is possible anyway on a x4 and 6850 but I'm planning on getting a 25" + 1080 monitor for it and might get a second one for funsies Also playing BF3 on ultra I might want the extra Graphics performance.

The human eye can only see at around 60 FPS I believe. :/ I doubt you'd see any difference between 60 FPS and 250 FPS. And 250 FPS on an Athlon II or Phenom II X4 and a Radeon 6850?? Hmmm...

yeah its cod4 we're talking about als its not because i cannot see 250fps but the benefits of it in cod4. Like: Bounce, longer strafe's, silent, better aim.
