Need advice on new video card

Well what's your budget? If you want to buy new, something like a GT 430 or 440 or a 6770 would be OK with a Corsair CX 500, but if you want second hand take a look at the GTX 460, 470, Radeon 5850, 5870 etc with a Corsair CX 600.

The GT440 is around 50 dollars and the 6770 is around 100 dollars... Is the ATi a smarter buy? Also which PCI-e BUS setup should I be looking for? There seems to be a few..

I ve been out of the pc loop for over ten years lol.

Just recomend a good gpu, psu and anything else I need for my current setup and if its affordable ill buy it. Around 200 dollars for eveything is not that bad.

If you only have $200 to spend on everything, I would focus more on the power supply than the video card. Get a cheap card that will do what you want, but get the best power supply you can afford as that will allow you to upgrade in the future without having to buy another power supply.

Take mine for instance, Iv had my Antec 650 since about 2007 and its still powering my machine just fine and it has gone through 3 other builds besides this one.

Got any proof of that strangle, interested in seeing the comparison.

Come on, you know neither of these cards use anywhere near the bandwidth of a PCIe 1.0 slot. Much less the 8400GS. A AGP isnt going to hurt a 4670 that much. The 8400GS sucks pretty bad. I could see your point if we were talking about a PCI slot. But the AGP X8 slot has 2,100 MB/s, dont think it would hurt a 4670 all that much at all.

The 8400GS is PCIe and the 4670 is AGP. My point is comparing a 4670 PCie to a 8400GS PCIe was a silly comparison. That was my point, but I was also interested in a benchmark.

Well for the Graphics Card, maybe a Radeon 5870, they're not too expensive and they are really good :).

For the Power Supply I'd go with a Corsair. If you're not really planning on upgrading in the future then this should be OK.

Im also thinking once I get this new video card to move my computer out of my office and into my living room and hook it up to my 52 inch sharp lcd with hdmi if possible...

Any other advice guys? Still stumped on which video card and power supply to choose from. If you guys need any more info on my end let me know.
