Need anti virus Software

i use Avast! anti-virus. it works pretty well. and usually lets you know immediately when it has found malicious software. it's free (also a paid version) but, i think it's an excellent anti-virus. possibly beating the ones you pay for. :D

I need Real Time Protection for my home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

No you dont... just need to learn to be smart... I havnt had antivirus for the last couple years my comps been fine as long as you dont type your ssn or anything like that in there :). Even if you do chances are youll be fine but taking that chance is not smart.

Anyways just find a couple free ones and pick one :) none of them are perfect.

Just dont get McAfee or Norton as Norton doesnt fix virus's just find them and McAfee is just the most annoying thing ever with 4 updates per day.

I would recommend avast, it consumes less memory than other antivirus programs but it protects you. More than 100 million of people are using it and they offer free registration. :)

I use Avast, Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and have never had a problem, best part is they're all free and effective.

NOD32 and Macfee is fine anti virus. You can download these softwares from filehippo.com or dl4all.com. I prefer that you use NOD32, Its very east and convenient.

Thanks for your help. really avast consumes less memory than other anti virus programs.

I use Kaperski but would have tried one of these free one's had I found them. I did buy the KP at frys for $59 with a $60 MIR that I did use so it was free!

Microsoft Security Essentials. Not many people know about it buts its a great program, and doesn't bog your system down.

Ill co-sign on that !! I used to run ESET NOD32 until I figured out that anti virus programs are free like every other "essential" app... boy do i feel stupid lol
www.filehippo.com for freeware\open source programs

avg free is the best from my experience.
does not use resources and updates discretely in the background.
using it over 4 years and have yet to be infected.
most are good in their own right (id just steer clear of norton)

I gave up on Avast after four years when they "upgraded" to the buggy as hell version 5. I switched to Avira AntiVir free and am totally satisfied.
