RAID 10 (0 + 1) or just RAID 0 ?

by a '3rd' disk you mean like an extra disk not in any raid arrangement?

yes, two of the same HDD's in the RAID array, and have the 3rd disk separate from the array.

Not 3rd disk. "3-disk RAID 5".

you didnt understand what i said, i said have a 2 disk RAID 0 array and have the 3rd disk as a slave, then if the array fails the data on the 3rd disk wont be effected

Yep, misunderstood. I'm curious now - After hearing all sides of the debate what's your verdict?

personly id do what i said or do RAID 10, doesn't really matter, doing a 2 disk RAID 0 and slave disk setup would prob be the easiest way IMO
