hi, i bought a new gaming pc for my son, i am not very knowledgeable here on the latest gear, it has the AMD ryzen 78003D which runs the onboard radeon graphics, but the pc also came with the Zotac geforce rtx 4070 ti super graphics card, this RTX card added $1300 to the cost of the pc, now i realize the pc already had the onboard radeon graphics and i wonder why did it need the geforce rtx card, reason i ask is the pc is new and after starting up i find the geforce card is not working, the pc is running off the Radeon graphcs which are fine and my son has noticed no issues, so was the geforce card a waste of money ?

Is the monitor attached to the video card or the motherboard video output? To utilize the actual video card, you must be connected to it not the actual motherboard. What games does your son play?

hi, well actually the geforce card is not working, i bought pc at xmas and just setup, i plugged monitor into the display port of the motherboard and monitor works, i then plugged display port cable into the geforce card and it does not work, i have been speaking with Scorptec and they want me to bring the pc back to there store to fix the issue, so bottom line is at this point geforce graphics card is not working,

but the question i have is did i really need a dedicated graphics card ? from what see on youtube the ryzen 7800 3D is really good and has the Radeon graphics so i wonder why i spent $1300 for a dedicated card , was it really needed, my son is 18 has every game made ! plays the usual high end stuff like call duty all the popular stuff, this is the link to the pc i bought

That's about the going rate in AUS for that card, it's wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the integrated video for gaming.

If you aren't able to use the GPU in a prebuilt I'd return that under warranty ASAP, you shouldn't have to finagle with out of the box hardware.

How do you know its not seeing it? What does it show under display adapters in the device manager? You also may have to go into the bios and change your primary video display to pcie graphics instead of onboard.

When I go to display adapters I can only see amd radeon graphics, which I understand is the on board graphics on mother board
If I plug display lead into graphic card I get nothing, so geforce it lit up but no one is home
My mate suggested I might need to go to bios or safe mode etc to find the geforce amd emable it...but doing that is above my skill...I assume shop will do and all good, but it will take hours and might have to leave in the store ....as said no fun

its fixed i watched him swap graphic card for a new card no luck, then he swaped the ryzen cpu no luck, did a bunch of settings in bios no luck.....some head scratching lost in space looking around, then he looked at power supply, instantly said oh here's the problem...the problem was power supply, apparently the power supply has various cable of it, one cable powers the graphics card , he said the cable was loose gave it a push and bam screen came on all good, so simple....thanks for the help
