Wireless + Wired

I want to know if I can connect a modem to a switch and a wireless router to the switch. Basically, the internet cable goes from the wall to the modem, into port 1 of the switch. Then in port 2 of the switch, could i stick in a wireless router? Would the switch be able to take in the connection also? Or do I need a wired router instead of a switch?

you could just get a (single) router to do this. I reccomend the Linksys
WRT54G (Wireless-G [it also supports 802.11b] 2.4GHz Broadband Router). It has four ethernet ports on the back, and can have about 200 wireless users at the same time.

It's something to think about. :D

I know, but the thing is, I filled up all the 4 ports on my router and i was wondering if i could add a switch. =

Internet --> Switch (added) -->Router

you could just add a switch to your router. That would be *so* much easier. You would just be extending your router to get more ports.

That is what I'm saying, except that I want the switch to connect to the modem. This is because the router only supports 10/100mbps but the switch will support 10/100/1000mbps so I want to have a gigabyte network with the switch and a wireless 100mbps network.

Is this possible?

It is possible, but i wil still give you 10/100 because its going to go as slow as the slowest thing you have.
