Wireless USB adapter

Right, i bought and installed a SWEEX USB ADAPTER (wireless 802.11b/g). Installed on windows 98 went fine, utility manages the networks, it found my router's signal and after about 5 mins of "connecting" it connected, and the signal strength was up around 80%.

I am more experienced with windows XP Pro, and not 98se. How do i tell the pc that i want to use the internet connection that would come from the wireless network. The pc has no dialup connections installed or anything, when i try to open a web page all i get is "page cannot be displayed". I assume this is because it has no connection. So, how do i tell windows 98 that i want to use the internet connection from the USB adapter.

Any help or pointers/tips would be much appreciated.

I had a problem exactly like this, what I did was I had to disable a firewall program I had running because for some reason it didn't like what I was doing, but didn't tell me. Once I disabled it and just used the windows firewall I was fine. I don't know if this would help or not.

its a clean install, there is no firewall or AV software installed. I upgraded it to WinXP ut now when when i run the network wizard, there is no option to select which connection to use for internet. What is going on, is it a fault with the USB adapter or what, It says the Wireless Netowrk Connection is connected but there is nothign about Internet Connection and no internet pages will load. I cannot ping either.

Please HELP!!

try right clickin on the wireless network connection in xp, and clickin on Available Networks. That will show you all the SSID's that your wifi adapter can pick up.
