Wireless surround speakers?

We will be closing on our house soon and I am trying to figure out how I want to setup my surround sound in the living room and have determined that I will likely be looking at purchasing a set of wireless speakers to replace my current creative labs 6.1 setup since I have no idea how to run the cables effectively.

I would love to have 5.1 wireless set with a powered sub. Audio will be routed from my media center pc, so they have to be pc compatible. I don't want to spend a boatload, but I would be willing to spend around $100 or more depending on the product. Ill be selling my current setup so that will recoup costs.

I've looked at the Dell wl6000 set, but I don't see 5 independent speakers in the pictures, just two and a front. Any recomendations you have used?

The Dell set you mentioned is a 5.1 set. It has a center, front left, front right, subwoofer and a single rear speaker that plays the rear channels. I have no experience with the set but the reviews look good. Someone even said though the rear is one speaker both channels are distinct and seperate sounding. I would never go with a wireless system myself but I am very critical on what I use to listen to music or to watch movies. If you are not so critical like me then this set will do the trick.

I have a nice set of Creative Labs speakers but in our house I have no way of running the cables correctly. I would say that I am critical of the quality of the sound, but if I can get a good quality from the wireless ones i will be happy.

Is your sound system going to be set up in a different room then your computer? Assuming your office is next to your living room you can pick up some extenders(if you can even use them with your set up), and drill a small whole in the wall on the floor. Tuck the cords into the carpet(assuming you have carpet in your living room), and cover the whole with all the wires coming out with your couch(or w.e you want).

Thats just an idea though. Im kind of a peny pincher when it comes to stuff i already own. That way you dont have to buy any thing or a drill and a large bit if you dont have it.

If you already thought of this then good luck on your endeavors :D

I have a similar setup

I have a similar setup, I believe, Inspire 2.1. speakers in one room and the computer in another room. Using Sound Blaster wireless instead of cables. If you follow the link - there is a lot of talk about iTunes but I actually do not even use iTunes - it works fine with Winamp too
