Wireless routers & cards

I would like to go wireless with my home network but dont know what the best router is to get, is it the simple case of a 108 mps router is better than a 50 mps and also does the card for a laptop need to be the same speed.

So if i have a 108 mps router and a 128 mps card will it affect my connection.

If you want the full 108mbps speed then you need both the router and card to run 108mbps, if your router is 108 and your card in your comp only 54 then you will only recieve 54 from the router.

Depending on the distance you have to reach and whether you live in the Uk or USA then you may want to look at MIMO technology because it can reach a better distance, if the distance is not to far then you will be fine using the current 802.11g technology and should have no problems transfering files etc, it its just simply sharing a connection then go with 54mbps hardware as it will be cheaper, besides its still pretty fast aroudn the network
