Well let me start off by saying that its not right (and not legal most places), to connect to peoples networks.
But when your on the road, you can basically just open up your wireless network manager, and connect to any public wifi spot (tons everywhere). But you must be stopped, or else you will only be connected for a very short while, and finding networks when your driving is much harder since by the time you see it and try to connect, its pretty much out of range already.
And hacking into secured networks is wrong, and you shouldnt do it.

To connect to the internet while on the road, just find a Starbucks (you'll prolly find one around every other corner). Starbucks hosts a wireless connection for people that need the internet while enjoying a cup of coffee. If you can't find Starbucks, then look for a cafe that does let you use their internet.
As for hacking into secured networks, it's really hard. You'll need a program that collects billions of packets of information and then the computer can crack the code - but as I see it, you don't have the time. However, I've found that most of the time, people set their codes for WEP encryption as 0123456789 so you can give that a try.
