Is there any way I can monitor what people sharing my wirelss network are viewing or using their internet connections for?

there should be a status function in the router's control panel, this will list all wlan and lan clients by ip and mac address

I suggest you toss some security on your wireless.

wireless

i have security on it. but i want to be ablet to monitor what people are using it for so that they arent using it for stuff they shouldnt be. there is only 5 possible users max on it!

your router may have logging available on it. I run a third party open source firmware on my router that displays all the clients and keeps a small log file of what clients have been logged on.

Usually home routers will just tell you the IP and MAC of the client, and what time they connected and so forth, I haven't found home routers that will actually let you monitor the clients activity.

some of them allow you to output a log file to a local machine on the network. Not all firmwares have this feature though.
