Wireless network troubles

I have a simple wireless network set up in my house. There is one computer that has a wireless card in it and my computer has a wireless card but is usually hardwired to tthe router. On my computer I have a wireless connection running and a hardwired LAN connection running. On the other computer obviously it id just the wireless connection running. Now the problem is, is that the wireless connection will (sometimes quite frequently) randomly disconnect for a few seconds. It reconnects without a hitch after a few seconds, but it can be quite annoying. I don't have to worry about this most of the time because I have the hardwired connection as well. So basically what I am asking is why does this random disconnect keep happening and how can I keep it from happening anymore. I've been everywhere in the router options but I can't find a thing. I have it set to keep alive, I figured that would solve it. Anyway, any ideas?
 
Might be inteference from another wireless device or bluetooth device. Do you have a handset for a wireless cell or home phone nearby? Anything that is wireless can cuse interference.. you can try using another broadcast channel on your router.
 
Yes what trizoy said is correct. The signal is fading or is being over run by another signal. Most routers only put out about 3mW of power. First you have a hardwire and a wireless connection also to this pc ? Depending on the manufacturer of your router , you can get high gain replacement antennas, high gain antennas that can be moved around. signal rebroadcasters, for notebooks a pcmcia card with a plug in antenna that can be moved around. How far away is the wireless router ?
 
The router is down here in the basement while the computer that is running solely on wireless is upstairs in a bedroom. But you see I get this random disconnect on my PC as well and the router sits right on top of my case!
