Wireless Network Setup.

Ok, i have never set up a wireless network before. googled some stuff for guides and stuff but none of them helped me.

ok, i have comcast cable, connected to a netgear 802.11g wireless router. it is wired to a laptop, and then i want it to connect wirelessly to another laptop. i had the internet connection working fine on both untill i renamed the SSID, and enabled WEP encryption. i have entered it into my wireless laptop when trying to connect but it just waits, then says "limited or no internet connection"

anyone know how to fix this, also, i want to set up a printer to the network so i can print wirelessley. the printer is network ready and has a ethernet port. should i connect the printer directly to the router, or connected via usb to the wired laptop, then shared or something.

as i said, this is my first time with a wireless or wired network, so explain well please.

both computers have Windows XP

Well for the internet connection when you search for networks in range does it show up with the new ssid? It should also ask you for the WEP key aswell. Make sure you keep that around.
Well the printer is up to you... if you plug it into the router it will always be one, doesnt matter if your laptop is on which you could plug it into. But if yo uplug it into the laptop, it must be on to print.

well they all have to be setup in the same workgroup...make shure all addresses are same except the ip addresses which should have the same first three #s then the last should be different.

ignore him.. he is confusing you...

Just make sure they are in the same workgroup, and enable a folder for sharing... You can connect to a computer through tmy network places or by simply typing //computername //local-ip
