Hi,

I'm new to wireless networks and I have some questions and wish that you can help to learn about them..

I have 2 computers (Laptop and a desktop)

-Laptop is a centrino and has switch at the side .
-Desktop Belkin wirless adapter installed.

I have Belking Router ( I think it is wireless because it has anntena)

Now how can I setup my wireless network to share the files and printers ?

- Do I have to connect on of the computers to the router by a cable (it will be the laptob 'cause there is a switch for that kind of cable) ?

Or Can I connect them without the cable ? I mean they are connected to the router network wirelessly but I can't view the computers on each other!!

can you please help me .

thanks

well if u know wat ur connecting i beleive windows xp has a wizard for that under ur network connections. like the sharing files and printers wizard.

All you need to do is make sure they are in the same workgroup... Directions: Right click my computer and click "workgroup" button. Write anything you like, but make sure both computer use the same workgroup.
You can then find a folder or hd or cd-rom you with to share, and right click it and enable sharing. (you can disable and Winxp firewall because your router has a firewall).

You must enable and folder or drive you wish to share. Then you open "my network places" and clci entire network, and microsoft windows network.. You should then see your workgroup listed... click it and then pick the other computer. If this does not work... you can always use the computers name or IP to connect.. for example //192.168.2.1 (which is probably your router) or //computername

Good Luck!

No no.. the router makes it all work... but you need to configure it on each computer individually... Follow the notes it will be fine.
