wireless laptop and desk top?

First of all. Do you have a wireless router and a wireless card for your laptop?

Set both your laptop and pc through the router if you haven't already done so. As in the ip, subnet, gateway, dns primary/secondary. You can get this info. from the router setup page, then you would have to enter it into the tcp/ip setings of your network devices.

Next, make sure they both are set for sharing capabilities and make sure they are on the same workgroup. You can do this by looking at the Properties of your My Computer. Then in the "Computer Name" tab.
