wireless internet

hello, i am new to the forum...my question is this: in my house i have wireless internet downstairs, but i want to run it to my PC upstairs. what do i need to accomplish this, and how do i block the ip address so that it works on both pc's. also any other tips you have. thanks.

I am assuming you wont pick up the wireless signal upstairs? Have you tried? If not you may need to reposition the wireless router in the middle somewhere..

what router do you have, the signal output may not be strong enough either.

i haven't tried to see if the pc would pick up the signal upstairs, how would i do that?

move the actual router upstairs, or at least closer to the computer that isnt working....becuase it will increase the signal strength

if your upstairs machine still wont pick up the signal and you dont want to relocate your router... look into getting a repeater. there are even repeaters that are merely a plug-in device that sits in any 120v outlet and extends the range of your 802.11 signals... check it out.
