Wireless for desktop

I will be ordering a Desktop in the very near future. Now i currently have a laptop with wireless. My current build has a media port allowing sd cards and the like. Now all my PCI slots are full. How well do the adapters that plug into your usb really work. And for the Linksys (Router i have at home) Does the speedbooster on their adapters only work with specific routers or with all of them? Or would i be better off leaving out the media card and putting in a wireless chip in the PCI slot? Price is not really a problem up to 100 for it. Thanks in advance.

I have a usb device for my wireless and it works fine. I wanted a pci card at first but ended up settling for a usb stick and it's brilliant!:)
One major plus is how portable they are. If you arn't getting a good signal then you can easily move them to get a better signal. There is one difference i have noticed, when you get a fair or low signal strength the speed overall drops more than it would on a pci card.:(
Other than that no problems what so ever.
