wireless connection?

Ripwave™ is the newest innovative product to hit the broadband market. It utilises wireless technology in order to provide a faster, "always-on, unlimited usage " Internet service. It does not use your phone line and therefore allows you and your family to make and receive phone calls even while you are surfing the Internet. Unlike DSL, it does not involve the hassle of connecting splitters or filters to your existing phone line. Simply connect the Ripwave™ modem directly to your PC using the provided connection and enjoy. Ripwave is a plug and play broadband access device.

Well this is a nice marketing tool... Never heard of this personally.. looks interesting. There should be a port on the thing.. What kind of plug ins does it allow? Do you have to manually set it up with a user id and pw?

it works right out of the box,no id or password,,just an install cd ,takes 10 seconds to install,it sits on the window sill of my bedroom and picks up a broadband signal from a arial a few miles away, butit comes into my laptop by ethernet cable and i wanted to know if i could go wireless?

Well in the description it says it has an ehternet port, so you should be able to connect this to a wireless router and then if you don;t already own any wireless aaptors you would need to buy one for each copmuter that needed to connect, a wireless router shoudl cost you no more than £50, about €80 and wireless usb/pcmcia/pci cards should cost aound £20, about €30, btw i have just approximated the exchange, so i am probably a lot out

thats cool, will try and track down a cheap router on ebay at the weekend, will any router work or do i need something special

A wireless router... They make them so you can plug in an ethernet cord too.. Thats always nice!

Any should do (i think) so long as it says it is a dsl/cable router, as then it should have a wan port for the ripwave box. Ebay probably is the best place to buy as i got my router for the equivalent of €45 inc. postage!

seen a few on ebay today at very low prices, they all seem to have about 4 ethernet ports and some people are selling em for £12.99 +plus postage,i dont think id need a top of the range one as i only want it to work in the room nextdoor and some of them can send signal hundreds of meters so il get one of the cheapest ones i can find,
if it dont work it will make its way back onto ebay, thanks for the help everybody
