Wireless Connection Problem

I have a belkin pre n router which I frequently have problems with. I have only 1 desktop computer connected wirelessly. The signal always displays a s excellent, but I have either 1 of 2 problems. (I can connect via ethernet)

The speed drops from 54 and either disconnects totally or becomes useless within a few minutes.

Also sometimes the router tries to connect to 0.0.0.0. Which is clearly an invalid ip address. I'm close to taking this back, because the MUPPETS at technical support seem to know even less than me about networking and end each call with blatant lies to save themselves from having to say, "we don't know what's wrong".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well the 0.0.0.0 issue can be fixed by assigning a static IP address (it'll also help a bit in the connection process, since it won't wait for an IP). As for the constantly dropped connection, it could be interference with something, the antennas may be bad (try swapping them around if you have more than 2), or your house is just anti-wireless. One solution is to buy one of those anntennas on steroids.

just about everywhere that isnt an open space is anti-wireless, you have to make sure the signal is the best possible by making it go throug the least amount of floors/walls possible, imo the best place to put something on wireless is in the same room as the wireless router, but that kind of defeats the object.

i am currently typing this whist connected wirelessly on my laptop to my wirless network, the connection has to go through 2 walls and 1 floor to get to me, but the connection is ok, even though i am currently getting 5.5mbps.

if you want better wireless, its simple, spend more money ! and dont use any internet heavy stuff wirelessly, like downloading, that can muck it up a bit.
