Wireless Church Network - help please

My church already has a wireless router for internet service (DSL), but they would like to make a room into the "Computer Resource Room" which would have about 4 - 6 new computers. Since none of the rooms are wired for internet service, each computer will need to have a wireless card installed.

What equipment would you recommend in the above scenario? Would you recommend a more commercial grade router (Orinoko for example), etc... What I am concerned about most is if all computers were on the internet at one time, how would the performance be affected?

Thanks,

BDog

you could get any of these wireless adapters, they would be fine. even if u got a usb 1.1 adapter, it would be fine. usb 1.1 has speeds of 11mbps, and most dsl service is no faster than 6mbps.

there are some questions that need to be answered, like what type of WAP or wireless router do u have now, whats the distance from it to where you need these computers to be, etc.

but basically, u can connect 6 computers easily with wireless. we once used a linksys wrt54g wireless router to connect between 20 - 30 users at one time. of course, the more users you add, the more bandwidth that must be shared, however, for simple browsing, email , etc, you would barely notice.

There is currently no wireless router, so I will have to add one. The distance to the room woould be less then 100 feet, but the building has metal girders in between the rooms, so I did not know if this would affect the signal at all.

Down the road, all rooms would get the wireless service and they are spread out, so at that time, something else would need to be done. What would you need to amplify the signal up and down floors as well as through metal in walls?

Thanks

you can find wireless repeaters online and they will strengthen the signals
