Wireless 'Aquiring Network Address' problem

I have recently attempted to make my laptop wirless, i have a netgear router and pc card and after initially setting it all up it worked fine, until 5 minutes had passed, the connection dropped out. It reconnects shortly after, but every five minutes the same happened.

I was told to disable the 'Wireless Zero Configuration' to rectify this problem but it didn't work! so in desparation i ran the windows xp 'repair' command in the network settings which is supposed to repair the ip adresses, since then when i try to connect to the network, which shows 'excellent' signal, i get the status 'Aquriring Network Address' and thats it!

What do I do now?!

ok, turn Wireless Zero Configuration back on
then update the driver for you wireless card

If none of that helps, post back with the make and model of the laptop and wireless card

You should use the program that came with your card, instead of using the integrated windows one. Im sure you have already done this, but have you enabled DHCP Server?

I've re-installed the driver that came with the card, and i've enabled zero config again, and the DHCP server is enabled. And i'm still getting 'Aquiring Network Addresses'

The problem seems to be the ip addresses i think! they were changed when i ran the repair and I can't seem to change them back to what they were/should be - I know i should know how to do this but i don't!

The pc card is a Netgear WG511U Double 108Mbps and the laptop a Toshiba Satellite A30-921

make sure this is set correct:
some random web site to save me typing said:
1. Click on Start-> Control Panel -> Network Connections (for the classic view).
Click on Start-> Control Panel -> Network and Internet Connections -> Network
Connections (for the category view).
2. On the Network Connections window, Right-click on the Local Area Connection Icon,
and select Properties.
3. On the Local Area Connection Properties Window, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP),
and then click on Properties.
4. Click on the radio buttons next to Obtain

Also download the lastest copy of the drivers from online, the ones on the cd will probably be out of date
