wireless adapter question

I am adding a 108mps wireless pci adapter to my pc. I know I have a Linksys router but i dont know the speed. Will a card like that work with any router? thanks

Is the pci adapter also made by linksys? If it isn't, you might have compatibility problems but most likely not. As long as your router is either B or G then you shouldn't have a problem though your connection speed my be lower than what you would like (depending on the router).

I'm probably wrong, but I don't think 108mbps is an actual standard. I think it's much like my old access point that was 'capable' of 22mbps, but you had to use DLink Pro devices to actually utilize that.

That should be just an 'extension'(if not a standard) of 802.11g. Sooo... as long as your card is 802.11b or 802.11g, you should be fine, as vonbismarck said.

They have Super-G cards which are capable of 108mbps, and pre-n, which is also capable of 108mbps+. But in order to utilize 108mbps, both the router and network cards must support it.

Not only that but I believe they have to be from the same maker too to get that effect (that might be what you are saying). I.E. Dlink router supporting 108Mpbs would not work at that speed with a Linksys adapter supporting the same speed. Also (and you may be saying this too) all the wireless parts of the network have to support that speed. If just one card was to join the network, they would resort to the lower official speed.
