has anyone got win7enterprise or win7ultimate? they are eligible to run winxpmode.exe and windows virtual pc. it would be interesting if it wasnt blocked by group policy. can anyone tell me how good it is? please?

Windows 7 Pro and up have XP Mode. It's nothing special.

P.S. You can download Virtual PC off Microsoft's website and run it on any OS.

But you can't get XP mode for any other OS except Win7 Pro and Ultimate. Personally, I hate WVPC, I use VirtualBox. It doesn't hog the CPU. On a PPC Mac, Virtual PC works well, however.

Ok, I installed and setup Virtual Box and when I try to start it, It says System Halterd No medium found. I tried it on XP, 98, 2000. Nothing. Any Idea?

What you are seeing are only OS configurations. You have to install the OS from scratch (with a CD and license). They don't come free with Virtual Box or any other virtual PC software besides XP Mode for Win7 Pro and up.

Well that kinda defeats my purpose...

That's why it pays to be a computer service tech and to be in college. You get free stuff ;)

I got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and 32 bit for free and a day before it was released. because my aunt was on a buissness trip in Florida and she got it and gave it to me. She also met Bill Gates a few years ago in Florida.

Woo hoo. I've never payed for my OS' as I've always gotten them for free (and through legal channels too)

I'm glad you're using VirtualBox, Carey. But, you still need an OS disk just like a real computer. It's a very easy program to configure, and it will run many popular distros of Linux as well. Also, it can directly use your graphics card using the Guest Additions driver and by checking 2D and 3D in the graphics panel in the VPC's preferences. I've run some pretty graphics intensive games without a problem using it. It's a great program to have around.
