Windows Updates download

If I wanted to update the server with Windows Updates, then is it possible to download them then install them? Rather than download and install over the www.

I've had a look but can't seem to find the option. I also thought I read something which says that it is no longer available to download the updates, only stream and install. Is this true?

So if I can download them, where can I do them?

Thanks

If you locate a 3rd party link for MS updates you can often save them to a folder on a hard drive for installation when not online. The update link seen at the Windows page takes you to the options for express or custom after the initial scan. By using the custom option you can select what updates are downloaded and installed at that time. This will also separate MS from software and hardware updates as well.

Just curious but why not just install them from microsoft. If its an issue with during the day set them to download and install at night? We have ours set to check and download at night and if it needs to restart which windows server almost never needs to we do it manually when we get back.

Unfortunately the link you have there is for a small security patch and not for a full download of SP 2.
Oops wrong one, thanks for catching it. I was browsing around just to make sure. This is the one I meant.

He wasn't specific to SP2 or whatever update so I wasn't trying to be specific to that security patch either;) just copied it while browsing so pardon that. Just search on top for the SP2 or such.

The reference for SP2 was simply for saving the full download rather the install at MS. If you burn SP2 to disk you can install at anytime. That would be a consideration for a network that has to be maintained. :)
