windows 7 glitches

Not everyone loves windows 7. I find it so annoying I'm thinking about deleting it and going all the way back to XP. When I turn on it throws "windows live" up without my wanting it and I have to click it off, not a big deal but a bother none the less. Update loads a defective video driver and will not stop doing so even though I set it to never download updates. It won't stop no matter what I do. After clicking off windows live I must enter device manager and delete the defective video driver before I can start my project. I got pro version so I could use my expensive XP software. It loads fine in the XP envelope but sony vegas platinum 7, made for XP, will not recognize my sony cam corder. Windows update shows 7 security updates but they will not load, tried many times but just get error messages. Also, XP mode in win 7 is very slow. My advice, don't use it. Preferably use a common dual boot for win XP and win 7, don't use their XP envelope.

If you have installed windows live,It will automaticly launch when you log on.....to disable it you need to stop it from launching at startup via Windows live settings.

As for the Video driver, dont just be lazy and let windows download all the drivers,Download the proper drivers yourself from the manufacturers website...Ati,Nvidia etc....whatever card you have.

You say 7 is slow.....what is your system specs?

i had this problem during beta, but not after doing an upgrade to 7 pro. if you install the proper driver, does it revert back to the generic MS driver? that would be messed up.

As Nevakonaza suggested, grab the video drivers from the manufacturer.

XP Mode is simply VirtualPC built in to the OS (Win7 Professional an up only). This is an emulated environment. It will run slower than booting into a native XP install - especially on older hardware. For video editing you will be much better off running in a native environment, not an emulated one.

Also, are you running Windows7 32bit or 64bit? Was this a fresh install of Windows 7, or an upgrade install?

it sounds like hes got bad acpi drivers, which can cause windows update to screw up... thats usually a cause from doing the upgrade. so ill assume its an upgrade

so far the only people i've heard knocking windows 7 are the non pc literate ones :)

It sure can be for some people. Especially if you are used to where to go to change settings in XP. ;)
