Will this board support the cpu

Hi all, I upgraded my cpu from a 7600k to a 9600k and somehow managed to bend pins

I've ordered the following board, I was hoping with both cpus being 1151, that the new cpu would work, but a couple of google searches have me worried. Could anyone tell me if this board would work with a 9600k as I currently have it arriving tomorrow, and don't know whether to cancel my order, thanks in advance

If you ordered the board in your signature then it doesn't support the 9600k.
Hi, thanks for your reply, I've already cancelled. The one in my signature is an old one, but I think it's quite similar.

I've just ordered the following, " IAsrock H370M-HDV motherboard Intel® H370 LGA 1151 (Socket H4) ATX - H370M-HDV" I googled it, and it appears to support 9th gen. I've not really done any upgrades for a while and didn't consider the chipset.

I'm going to gave to be extra careful this time, it was my first time installing a 212 cooler, and I messed up

Yes, the H370-HDV does support the 9600k.

What happened? The Coolermaster Hyper 212 is pretty easy to install. I use it all the time on client new builds. The cpu should be already in the socket and latched down before putting on the cooler.

I actually don't know, I've never had a problem installing cpu's. I checked the arrow on the cpu with the corresponding arrow on the socket as I always do. This was with the 7600k. I really struggled to get the screws to reach the board. The just didn't seem to reach properly. Eventually I got annoyed and applied a bit of pressure (stupid move) I got it going and noticed it started saying "no keyboard detected during boot. Even though it worked fine. At this point I was too scared to mess with it again. The computer seemed to work fine, except for one time I briefly had a no display problem.

It wasn't until I upgraded to the 9600k that the problems really started. Pressing the power button, there seemed to be no response, although upon inserting the gpu, the lights came on, so there must be power I thought, then I saw the pins on the socket, it was a mess

Installing the cooler wouldn't cause that. If there is bent pins then the cpu was either dropped when installing or pins were already damaged.

Hmm, not sure then. It just seemed like I had to force the bracket into the board to get it on. To be fair, I have a memory like a culinder and can't remember this far back. I may come back on here with a pic before I do it if that's okay. Don't want to risk another board. I took a pic of the socket, I attempted to straighten the pins, but gave up

Thats some major damage there and no way were you gonna fix that.
I decided to get a different a 1200 socket board and a 10600k cpu that I found cheap instead and get a refund on the other.

When installing the cpu and cooler, is it best to do it with the motherboard outside the case or while in the case. It's a Corair carbide spec _02 and there's not a huge amount of space in there.

Got the board already, just waiting the cpu which should arrive one monday

Much easier to do outside of the case, especially if it's an aftermarket cooler to where you need a back plate.

Hi, the board and cpu arrived. Now have a 10600k. The cpu cost me £75 on cex and the boars was £53 on amazon. Slightly annoyed that the 11600k has just become available for £90 but I really don't want to annoy them and go through the refunds again.

All seems to be running fine and I'm now better at installing the hyper 212.

Thanks for your help, it was useful
