Hi, I recently got an acer aspire 5000 which has a wifi card, never used it as there was no network to connect to but now it seems to have completely disappered from the computer. Any ideas?

were you connecting to someone elses internet maybe? Well it is off then... They shut it off...

If it was your internet service then just restart your modem/router..

I think we need more info

Is this a notebook ?
could we have the model # ?
when you say disapeared, the card disapeared physically ,?
the internet connection disapeared ?
the card is in the pc, but it has disapeared in windows ?
what os do you have ?

oh I see you did post the mod # I read 3 reviews and none of them mentioned wi-fi except this review
56K V.92 modem, 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet, dual-mode 802.11b/g
where at the end it says 802.11 b/g...so I guess it has onboard wireless
>>>>MOST NOTEBBOKS WITH ONBOARD WIRELESS , THERE IS ABUTTON OR KEY ON THE KEYBOARD TO TURN IT ON/OFF

go to control panel theb system, then the hardware tab, then devices, see if you see the wi-fi card see if there are red Xs or yellow triangles with an exclamation point.
