I have 2 comps, and a preexisting wifi network, neither of the comps is on the network, and I can only get one on the network. I have 2 questions. I only have one wireless card, can i put it in one of the computers and then RJ45 network it to the other in order to spread the wifi network? and, which OS should I put on the wifi computer, it's a really old "laptop" so I can will use my PCMCIA wif card in it, I can either use Linux or Windows 98. Which would be better for working with the PCMCIA card and also running, if possible, the aforementioned network extention over Cat5 to a Windows XP computer.

Win98 would works. All you would need to do is use one laptop to connect wirelessly to the network then use a crossover cord over to the other laptop. Also make sure you bridge the two connections. (it is an options in network properties.)
