well lets see ive been having some problems with acessing a couple of websites and ive gotten suggestions to go and call my ISP. Comcast got bought out by timewarner or something and now im under new management and it isnt going to well. I called them and they pinged the websites and they can acess them so they say everything is fine. They direct me to linksys [this is were the crap starts] So i call them and they out sourced so im not calling india [i believe] and im on the phone with them for forever like a couple of hours. Now im gonna be in deep [s#ut] We'll they lead me on this fix this edit this in the router config and now i cannot access any website at all unless i connect directly in the modem. The family doesnt really like sharing one comp and one internet source. I wanted to know what the heck is wrong with my router cuz everytime i connect the modem to the router and try to access the internet that way it doesnt work. It craps out on me. They mentioned to upgrade the firmware but i cant even do that. The router resets itself over and over. So is there something i can do or wil i ave to buy a new router. [I really dun want to do so.] The model number on the router is BEFSX41 doubt it hleps though

If you look on the back of the router you will see a recessed "reset" button. Push it in with a pen and hold it until all the lights on the front start flashing. The router will reset itself. It sounds like you have cable so you should be alright from there. If not, type 192.168.1.1 into your browser to access the control panel. When the login pops up, type nothing for the login, admin for the password. From there you can find the settings to set up your PPPoE if you are on DSL.

Oh, and never, never, ever call India again. Heh. They are useless. Been there, done that and I was so frustrated (partly because I hardly understood a word they said) that I almost threw the stupid thing out the window, and I know my routers. It just turned out that the router was incapable of performing the feature they said it would. How maddening.

If cable use the clone mac address feature... makes the connection more stable. (also comcast user)
