Why should it matter where I live?

Sometimes when I'm doing downloading, I'm asked what is the nearest location to where I live at (e.g. Atlanta, GA or Los Angeles, CA). Why should it matter where I live at when I download?

Because downloading from the nearest service area from you gives you faster download speeds.
